I think this idea is so great.  Over at Enjoy The Simple Things Laura Lynn has changed her thrift store lamp find into a pretty cool lamp with stained paint stir sticks.  Why didn't I ever think of that?  This could come in handy in future renovation projects.  You can see the full tutorial here at Enjoy The Simple Things.
